The Macclesfield Flying Club was formed in the winter of 1994. It was an amalgamation of the three clubs that flew in the town at the time, these being the Macclesfield Premier, Macclesfield Central and the Broken Cross Flying Club.

At the time it was felt that instead of having three small clubs in a three mile radius it would be better to form one big club. Letters were sent out to all members of the three clubs explaining the proposal and a meeting was called. At the meeting various things were discussed including name of club, distribution of trophies etc.

The members voted unanimously that the new club be formed and so dawned a new beginning. The three old clubs disbanded according to RPRA rules. Donations were received by almost all members to set up the funding of the new club. Also equipment such as computer, trophies, ringer, master timer and everything needed to run the club, also a solid silver trophy was donated by Mr George Appleton of Denton to be presented annually to the premier prize winner.

A committee was elected and rules were formed and so the foundations were laid for a well equipped club and funds in the bank!

Racing commenced with old birds in 1995.

The Macclesfield Flying Club has 21 flying members. We have a 20 bird limit in operation for both old and young bird racing. On average we send 250 birds per week.

Previous seasons we have flown in the East Cheshire Federation and our club are members of the Cheshire Combine and the Three Counties Combine.

We have joined the Staffordshire and Moorlands District Federation and look forward to a new challenge for our club and members.
